Tsunami Affected Area
Khao Lak has emerged from the terrible events and personal tragedies of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami. Despite all the reconstruction that has taken place there is still much evidence of the destruction that took place on that fatal day. Our tour of the Tsunami affected area will take you to the Police boat that now sits 2km’s inland from the beach, the boatyard where hundreds of volunteers from all over the world came to rebuild fishing boats. You will also visit the tranquil Memorial Gardens and Cemetery where unidentified victims are buried.
